Exploring Chassidic Insight on Paryer
Reminder! The next 2 weeks (June 15 & 22) class will be on Wednesday, not Monday. We will resume on Mondays on June 29.
Special Class Monday, June 29, with Guest Speaker Liba Polter about The Demartini Method! We will meet at 10:30 for socializing and Martinis. The class will begin at 11:00am sharp at The Shul.
The Demartini Method is a tool for personal growth and awareness and conflict resolution which uses several questions, that when worked through, helps to neutralize a person’s emotional charges and bring balance to your mind. The very specific questions guide a person toward viewing a difficult situation or relationship differently, until gratitude is felt toward the person or situation for being exactly as it is.
When your mind is negatively charged, led by your emotions, your inner most thoughts are controlled by a state of reaction. When your mind is neutralized, you experience peace, serenity and gratitude for the way things are without changing anyone or anything.
The method’s techniques teach you how to handle difficult people in your life, clear judgments, eliminate fear of difficulty and crises, stop blaming others and take responsibility for your life, clear guilt, and overall master your emotions. |

The Girls Club had a great time on Sunday with their moms! After a quick, packed visit to Paradise Park, they enjoyed a wonderful barbecue with time to relax, chat and see just how well we know our daughters. Thank you Heather Levy for bringing the delicious refreshing dessert!
Also despite a downpour, a group of our dedicated Jewish Family Festival Volunteers came out this past Sunday to enjoy the evening, recap and move forward, sharing ideas to make next year's Festival bigger and better than ever!

Parshat Shlach
Moses sends twelve spies to the land of Canaan. Forty days later they return, carrying
a huge cluster of grapes, a pomegranate and a fig, to report on a lush and bountiful land. But ten of the spies warn that the inhabitants of the land are giants
and warriors “more powerful than we”; only Caleb and Joshua
insist that the land can be conquered, as G‑d has commanded.
The people weep that they’d rather return to Egypt. G‑d decrees that Israel’s entry into the Land shall be delayed forty years, during which time that entire generation will die out
in the desert. A group of remorseful Jews storm the mountain on the border of the Land, and are routed by the Amalekites and Canaanites.
The laws of the menachot (meal, wine
and oil offerings) are given, as well as the mitzvah to consecrate a portion of the dough (challah)
to G‑d when making bread. A man violates the Shabbat by gathering sticks, and is put to death. G‑d instructs to place fringes (tzitzit)
on the four corners of our garments, so that we should remember to fulfill the mitzvot (divine commandments).

Why Are the Mirrors Covered in a House of Mourning?
I have heard that the reason is that we are not supposed to adorn ourselves while in mourning, but I am looking for a deeper explanation. |

What the Three Definitions of Challah Taught Me
When we do good, lots of good, we may be lured into a sense of entitlement. I gave 20% to charity; I can now buy whatever I want with the rest, without regard for social responsibility. I volunteered at the school for two hours;
I am now entitled to laze around for the rest of the week . . . |
