Dear friends,
I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful summer... locally, up north or out of state... I wish you all a wonderful Shabbos.
This Shabbos, we read the second chapter of the Shema, in which we find the commandment to "love your G-d and
serve him with all of your heart". The Talmud states that service of the heart refers specifically to prayer. You see, prayer isn't just about reading the text or repeating ancient liturgy -
it's a heart thing.
When you light your candles tonight and when you pray on Shabbos, put all of your heart into it. We love it when you can join us here for services, but if you can't make it - not to worry, do it at home!
And while we're on the subject of prayer, it's not too early to think about the upcoming High Holidays. The Shul offers warm and meaningful services that are open to all - make plans to celebrate the New Year with us... and tell your friends to do the same.
Talk about prayer being from the heart... services at The Shul!
P.S. I look forward to seeing you and meeting some of your friends at our upcoming Camp, BBQ and classes - there's lots of information below... enjoy some light summer reading.
Shabbat Shalom
